Rockland County, NY – The annual Rockland County Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) and Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH) Emerald Ball took place last weekend, marking the official start of the St. Patrick’s Day season in Rockland County. The event brought together community members, leaders, and honorees to celebrate Irish heritage and recognize outstanding contributions to the community.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Grand Marshal Sash to John McGowan, a well-known local figure whose dedication to Rockland County earned him this prestigious honor. McGowan’s contributions to the community and his embodiment of the spirit of St. Patrick were celebrated with resounding applause from attendees.
In addition to McGowan, several other honorees were recognized for their service and commitment to the community, showcasing the strength and vibrancy of Rockland County’s Irish-American culture.
The Emerald Ball serves as the prelude to one of the county’s most anticipated events—the Rockland County AOH St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade, set for Sunday, March 23, 2025, will bring thousands of spectators to the streets to enjoy vibrant displays of Irish culture, music, dance, and community pride.
Organizers encourage everyone to mark their calendars and join the celebration, noting that the parade is a family-friendly event that showcases the best of Rockland County’s cultural heritage.
