Nyack, NY – The third annual Rockland Rowing Masters Regatta is set to take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the picturesque Rockland Lake State Park. Building on the tremendous success of previous years, the event promises an even more exhilarating rowing experience, combining fierce competition, strategic races, and plenty of opportunities for socializing.
The regatta, hosted by the Rockland Rowing Association, will feature 1000m sprints, Rockland Relays, and a beer garden to add a festive touch to the day. The event is designed to offer rowers of all ages the chance to compete based on speed rather than age categories, creating an exciting and inclusive atmosphere for both participants and spectators.
Event Highlights:
- Speed-Based Racing: This year’s regatta will feature races where crews are seeded based on their performance in a morning time trial, allowing competitors to race against others of similar speed. This unique format creates an exciting and unpredictable racing environment, where age becomes secondary to skill and speed.
- Professionally Designed Course: The 1000m racecourse will feature 10 buoyed lanes with stake boats, ensuring fair and competitive racing for all participants.
- Scenic Venue: Set against the stunning backdrop of Rockland Lake State Park, the regatta offers breathtaking views for both competitors and fans, making it a perfect venue for a day of racing and relaxation.
- Rockland Relays: The event will also include the highly anticipated Rockland Relays, a challenging and strategic race that tests both the depth and speed of each team.
- Accessibility & Amenities: Convenient access to trailers and ample parking will make participation hassle-free. The venue is easily accessible from New York City and just minutes from the Tappan Zee Bridge.
- Community Fun: Beyond the racing action, the event offers a food truck, a beer garden, and a cornhole tournament, with proceeds benefiting the DUNY rowing team and Friends of Jaclyn, a nonprofit organization supporting children with brain tumors.
“Last year’s regatta was a huge success, and this year, we’re raising the stakes with more race opportunities and an enhanced experience for everyone,” says Ivan Rudolph-Shabinsky, President of the Rockland Rowing Association. “We’re excited to welcome both returning and new rowers to a fun and competitive day on the water, and we hope the entire community comes out to enjoy the festivities.”
Registration for the regatta is now open, with the deadline to sign up being June 22, 2025. Participants can register online through the Rockland Rowing Association’s website at www.rocklandrowing.org. Whether you’re an experienced rower aiming to test your speed, a fan eager to cheer on the athletes, or someone who wants to relax and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, the Rockland Rowing Masters Regatta offers something for everyone.
