NANUET, NY – Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick (D-Rockland/Westchester) has released the following statement:
“I am disgusted that the “Public Service Commission” has approved Orange & Rockland’s proposal for a rate hike on consumers without modification. Last month I stood with fellow legislators outside of O&R offices urging the utility to postpone or drop their proposed rate hike. To raise delivery rates in the current environment would impose a double dose of misery upon my constituents who are already struggling to keep up with their household expenses. My colleagues and I on the Senate Investigations and Governmental Operations Committee will continue our investigation of spiking utility bills, and I will be consulting with other colleagues in the O&R service area to coordinate next steps to help our constituents.”
