POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Senator Reichlin-Melnick joined fellow elected officials in welcoming the President to the Hudson Valley. President Biden was in the region highlighting the impact of the CHIPS and Science Act which aims to boost domestic manufacturing of semiconductors, strengthening America’s economic and national security.
Senator Reichlin-Melnick said, “Democrats are bringing thousands of jobs back to the Hudson Valley with federal investments worth hundreds of millions of dollars. As we are fighting to recover from the economic devastation of the pandemic, this historic infusion of federal dollars makes a big difference. This is the kind of support we need, and President Biden and the Democrats are delivering.”
The Hudson Valley being home to one of the big projects taking advantage of this new initiative was likely helped by New York’s Green CHIPS bill which was signed into law this summer and is designed to enhance our competitiveness against other states while ensuring the expansion of advanced manufacturing is environmentally sustainable.
Among the leaders who welcomed the President to IBM’s Poughkeepsie facility were Governor Kathy Hochul, Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney, Congressman Pat Ryan, and Senate Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins.
The Hudson Valley is recognized for its strong talent pool and well-established infrastructure. The combination of federal and state dollars promoting the expansion of the region as a leader in technical innovation that lead to thousands of direct and indirect jobs, will strengthen the economic foundation of the Hudson Valley for generations to come.
