State Senator James Skoufis (D-Orange County) announced that he has received the formal endorsement of the Police Conference of New York, the state’s preeminent professional labor organization representing municipal PBAs. Skoufis is one of just five Democratic State Senators statewide to earn the group’s support.
“Earning the backing of the Police Conference and its brave men and women in uniform is a humbling experience,” said Skoufis. “These professionals deserve a strong voice in Albany, and as the only candidate in this race who has proven his commitment to showing up for law enforcement time and time again, I look forward to partnering with them in the future.”
Police Conference of New York member units that are located in Orange County include the Newburgh Police SOA, Town of Montgomery PBA, Wallkill PBA, and Warwick PBA. The organization also counts the State Troopers PBA and many NYPD associations as member units.
Senator Skoufis has a long track record of working collaboratively with state and local law enforcement to ensure their officers have the resources needed to strengthen public safety, including leading the charge earlier this year to make commonsense improvements to the state’s flawed bail reform law, particularly getting repeat offenders off the streets and cracking down on gun crimes. Skoufis is running in the new 42nd Senate District which comprises the vast majority of Orange County.
