
Following a relentless winter storm that blanketed Rockland County with more than 15 inches of snow between Sunday evening and Monday morning, schools, educational programs, and local services across the region have announced widespread closures for Monday, January 26.
As road crews continue efforts to clear highways and side streets, safety protocols have prompted the following closures:
- BOCES Rockland – West Nyack: Closed
- BOCES – Nyack Adult Education: Closed
- Clarkstown Central School District (New City): Closed
- East Ramapo Central School District (Spring Valley): Closed
- Florida School District (Florida, NY): Closed
- Foster Grandparents Program of Rockland County (Nyack): Closed
- Iqra DarulEhsan Academy (Suffern): Transitioned to remote learning
- Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh (Newburgh): Closed
- Middletown Christian School-SDA (Middletown): Closed
- Newburgh City School District: Closed
- North Rockland Central School District (Garnerville): Closed
- Nyack School District: Closed
- Pearl River School District: Closed
- Premier Dialysis Center (Harriman): Closed
- Rockland Community College (Suffern): Closed
- South Orangetown Central School District (Blauvelt): Closed
- Suffern Central School District (Hillburn): Closed
- Venture Together (Nanuet): Closed
- Wappingers Central School District (Hopewell Junction): Closed
- West Street Childcare Learning Center (Spring Valley): Closed
The Nanuet Central School District had not confirmed its closure at press time. Families are advised to check directly with the district via the Contact Us page for updates.
This snowstorm, the most significant of the season so far, disrupted travel and forced emergency declarations in some areas. Local authorities urge residents to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary and to give snow plows space to operate.
