A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for our area, prompting the declaration of a Snow Emergency in Upper Nyack. This emergency will be in effect from midnight tonight until midnight Tuesday.
During this time:
- No vehicles are permitted to be parked in the public right of way or on a public street, except in designated parking places for homes without driveways on the South side of School Street and the West side of Front Street north of Highmount Avenue.
- The Superintendent of Public Works or the Police Department is authorized to remove and store any vehicle parked or left standing on any public street or highway within the Village during any snowstorm, flood, fire, or other public emergency.
Additionally:
- Residents must remove snow from their sidewalks within 24 hours after the snow ceases.
- It is prohibited to shovel or plow snow into a public street.
- If there is ice on the sidewalk that cannot be removed, residents must spread sand or other material on the sidewalk for safety.
It is urged that all residents adhere to these guidelines for their safety and the efficient clearing of snow from our streets.
