SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. — The Village of Spring Valley will mark Black History Month with a community celebration highlighting history, culture and local connections during an evening event planned for Feb. 11 at the Louis Kurtz Civic Center.
The event, hosted in partnership with the NAACP of Spring Valley and Tappan Zee Lodge No. 79, is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the civic center, located at 9 N. Main St. Organizers say the gathering is intended to recognize the contributions of Black Americans while bringing residents together in a welcoming, celebratory setting.
The program will include live entertainment and cultural performances, along with opportunities for attendees to meet and network with local leaders, community organizations and fellow residents. Organizers said the evening is designed to encourage meaningful connections while honoring Black history and its lasting impact on the community.
Community organizations, service providers and local businesses are also invited to participate by hosting informational tables to share resources and services with attendees. Village officials said those interested in attending or taking part in the event are encouraged to reach out in advance.
The celebration is open to the public and aims to serve as a focal point for community engagement during Black History Month.
