NEW CITY, NY — February 9, 2026 — The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office announced that Anderson Alvarado-Jimenez, 21, of Spring Valley, has been sentenced to 10 years in New York State prison after pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced.
The sentence was delivered by Judge Kevin F. Russo on February 4, 2026. In addition to the prison term, Alvarado-Jimenez received four years of post-release supervision and a permanent order of protection.
The conviction stems from a July 19, 2025 incident in which Alvarado-Jimenez became involved in a dispute with a co-worker over a shared work vehicle. According to authorities, he retrieved a revolver and fired two shots into the unoccupied vehicle on East Eckerson Road in Spring Valley. He later returned with an AR-15-style rifle and fired additional rounds into the same vehicle, two of which passed through the car and into nearby occupied apartments. No injuries were reported.
The defendant fled the scene and later disposed of both firearms in a body of water at Bowline Point Park in Haverstraw. He was arrested two days later by Spring Valley police.
Alvarado-Jimenez entered a guilty plea on November 5, 2025, resolving the indictment.
District Attorney Walsh said the sentencing “reflects the seriousness of this conduct and sends a clear message that gun violence will not be tolerated in our community.”
The case was investigated by the Spring Valley Police Department with assistance from the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team.
