
Stony Point, NY โ A Stony Point man has been arrested in connection with a fire incident that occurred on the James A. Farley Bridge in July, after a lengthy investigation by local police.
The original incident took place on the night of July 20, 2025, when police received a report around 9:30 p.m. of a male attempting to ignite a fire on the bridge using an unknown accelerant. Upon arrival, patrol officers observed a large black charred area on the concrete surface and noted a strong odor of gasoline.
An extensive investigation led detectives to identify 34-year-old Watson Germosen of Stony Point as the suspect. On October 7 at approximately 9:45 a.m., detectives located Germosen at his residence and placed him under arrest.
Germosen has been charged with Criminal Mischief in the 3rd and 4th Degrees and Arson in the 5th Degree. He was processed and released on an appearance ticket. His court date is set for October 16, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
Authorities have not reported any structural damage to the bridge or additional safety concerns at this time.
The plaintiff is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
