Woodbury, NY – A one-car accident in Orange County has claimed the life of a Stony Point teen. The crash occurred late Wednesday night, around 11:00 p.m., on Route 6 in the town of Woodbury.
According to state police, 43-year-old Steffany Egger of Stony Point was driving a 2017 Nissan eastbound on Route 6 at a high rate of speed when she lost control of the vehicle. As she approached the Long Mountain traffic circle, Egger failed to navigate the curve, causing the car to veer off course. The vehicle went through the center of the traffic circle before crashing head-on into a tree. Sitting in the back seat was 19-year-old Xavier Egger, Steffany’s son, who died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
The crash also involved two other passengers in the car. A 21-year-old man, who was sitting in the front seat, was not identified by authorities at the time of the report.
All three individuals required extrication from the vehicle. Steffany Egger and the 21-year-old man were transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla with non-life-threatening injuries.
