NEW CITY, NY — After nearly a decade of serving up live music, great food, and unforgettable memories, The Place, a beloved restaurant and music venue located on Main Street in the heart of New City, will be closing its doors.
Owner Jenna announced the bittersweet news this week in a heartfelt message to patrons, expressing deep gratitude for the community that has supported The Place since its opening in May 2017. “This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make,” Jenna wrote. “The Place has been so much more than just a bar — it’s been a second home & a hub for our community.”
Over the past eight years, The Place has established itself as a staple of Rockland County nightlife, known for its vibrant atmosphere, bottomless brunches, and weekend entertainment that brought people together. The venue quickly adapted during the pandemic with innovative options like heated patio igloos, demonstrating its resilience and dedication to serving the community.
The closure follows the sale of another music venue staple in Rockland County. Rhodes Tavern North was recently sold to a new owner, who is currently renovating the location into a new venue: ‘Cooper’s Tavern’.
To celebrate its legacy, The Place will host a series of special events in the coming weeks — a “farewell tour” of sorts — giving guests one last chance to toast, dance, and enjoy the unique energy that has defined the venue.
“Whether you stopped in for a quick drink or stayed until last call, you made The Place what it is, and for that, I can’t thank you all enough,” Jenna shared. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you for eight unforgettable years.”
As New City prepares to bid adieu to one of its cultural cornerstones, Jenna and her team leave behind not just a restaurant, but a community of music lovers, foodies, and friends brought together under one roof.
