Tomkins Cove, NY โ A 33-year-old man from Tomkins Cove was arrested Saturday night for driving while intoxicated after police discovered him asleep in a running vehicle on the side of the road.
At approximately 10:40 PM, the Stony Point Police Department responded to a report of two males sleeping in a vehicle on a roadside in Tomkins Cove. Officers arrived to find the vehicle with the engine running and keys in the ignition. Both occupants were awakened and removed from the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Cristian Guaman-Auquin, exhibited signs of intoxication, including red, glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol. Officers also found an open container inside the vehicle. Field Sobriety Tests were administered on scene, which Guaman-Auquin failed.
He was taken into custody and transported to the Stony Point Police Department for processing. A Breath Analysis Test administered during processing showed a blood alcohol content above the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Guaman-Auquin was issued multiple traffic tickets and released. He is scheduled to appear in Stony Point Justice Court on September 18, 2025, at 1:30 PM.
