Greenburgh, NY – The Westchester Delegation of the New York State Senate invites community members to participate in two budget forums to provide feedback on the governor’s proposed 2024-25 NYS Budget.
The in-person forum will take place on Thursday, Feb. 8, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Greenburgh Town Hall, while the virtual forum will be held via Zoom on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. Pre-registration is required for those who wish to testify, with each participant allotted two minutes to speak. Written testimony will also be accepted before and after the hearings. Spanish and ASL interpreters will be available at both forums.
Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins emphasized the importance of community engagement in governance, stating, “These local budget forums provide a platform for meaningful dialogue and enable us to better advocate for the needs of our community in Albany. Your participation is crucial in shaping policies that impact our daily lives.”
Senator Shelley B. Mayer encouraged Westchester residents to voice their concerns, priorities, and opinions, emphasizing the obligation to ensure the final budget supports the community to the fullest extent possible.
Senator Pete Harckham highlighted the significance of open communication during the budget process, stressing the importance of residents expressing their priorities and concerns directly to their state legislators.
Senator Jamaal T. Bailey echoed the sentiment, urging constituents to participate in the forums to ensure their voices are heard in shaping the budget decisions that directly impact their communities.
Senator Nathalia Fernandez emphasized the role of community input in ensuring the budget accurately reflects priorities, advocating for a say in how critical funding is allocated to address urgent challenges faced by the community.
