FOR CHILDREN 5 TO 11 YEARS OF AGE
NEW CITY, NY, – Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert announce that the Rockland County Department of Health (RCDOH) will hold several Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine clinics for children ages 5 to 11 years. The new COVID-19 bivalent boosters, authorized by the Food and Drug Administration in August 2022, can be lifesaving and protect against current virus variants. These new COVID-19 boosters protect against Omicron BA.4/BA.5 subvariants in addition to the original version of the virus, strengthening protection. Everyone ages 5 and older is eligible for a COVID-19 bivalent booster dose at least 2 months after their most recent vaccine or booster dose.
The upcoming RCDOH COVID-19 vaccination clinics for children aged 5 to 11 years will offer the Pfizer-BioNTech bivalent booster and will be held at:
Robert L. Yeager Health Center, 50 Sanatorium Road, Building A, Pomona 10970
- Monday, November 14, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
- Friday, November 18, from 9:00 am – 12 pm and 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm (on this date, booster shots will also be available for people ages 12 and older)
- Monday, November 28, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

“As we head into the cold weather months and more time is spent indoors, there is the potential for increased risk of exposure to the virus that causes COVID-19. Vaccination remains the most effective measure to prevent severe consequences, including hospitalization and death. The consequences of a pediatric COVID-19 case can be serious and potentially last months or longer. Staying up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccines is the best way to help protect your children, your loved ones, and vulnerable community members,” said Dr. Ruppert.
Any child aged 5 to 11 years old receiving the vaccine requires a parent or guardian to sign a consent form. The parent or guardian must show some form of personal identification, such as a driver’s license. If your child has health insurance, please bring their benefit card with you. The vaccine is free; however, the Health Department can collect an administrative fee from insurance plans. Please wear a face mask that covers your nose, mouth, and chin. You will not be allowed to enter the clinic without a face covering.
Besides staying up-to-date on your immunizations, follow these good health habits: avoid close contact with people who are sick, stay home when you are sick, cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, wash your hands often, and avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. More information on preventive measures can be found on the CDC website.
